The theme of the 2025 NCME Annual Meeting is “Educational Measurement: In Service of Society.” The theme emphasizes the “why” of our work in educational measurement and echoes the last three words of the NCME mission: “to advance theory and applications of educational measurement to benefit society”

Exploring Knowledge Tracing in Tutor-Student Dialogues using LLMs
Joshua Wilson and Corey Palermo are co-editing a special issue, titled “AI and Writing Assessment: Innovations, Validity, and Ethical Considerations.” This special issue aims to advance the field’s understanding of how AI can be responsibly and effectively integrated into writing assessment, with a focus on innovation, validity, and ethics.

The BEA Workshop is a leading venue for NLP innovation in the context of educational applications. It is one of the largest one-day workshops in the ACL community with over 100 registered attendees in the past several years.
